Why we do this.
Technology advances more rapidly than we absorb and adopt it. This certainly applies to photography. Just as we are getting used to the tools that make it easier to capture, edit, and share photographs, the technology leaps forward again.
AI has started to impact photography in more ways than we realize. Is the image I'm viewing one that was captured, or created from a prompt? This will undoubtedly evolve the art of photography, and at the same time make what we know as photography today a skill we can't afford to lose. And that's where we can take advantage of the technology that is being used to evolve the art, to help us preserve and enjoy the art as we know it today.
I'm a nerd with a camera. I spend most of my days understanding technology and deploying it in ways that improve people's lives. I also try to take pictures of things that can't move (aka Landscape Photography). Bringing the two together has been an absolute joy.
I realized that technology, in particular AI, when deployed properly, can help anyone who has ever taken a photo. It can help us know when and where a good time to take a photo is. It can tell us if we did a good job capturing a scene, it can tell us if we edited the photo in a way that makes it pleasing to look at. And lastly, and most importantly, it can make it easy to share our photography.
So I formed Kuhela to help photographers grow, and enjoy their passion more, and to make sure that any photo that was captured gets shared with people that will enjoy viewing it. My only hope is that these tools make the art of photography as we know it today more enjoyable for everyone, and that the craft of photography doesn't get forgotten in the years to come.
